How to use Markdown Studio

  1. Write or open a file

Type Markdown in the editor, paste it in, or open a .md, .markdown or .txt file from your device.

  2. Check the preview

The preview updates as you type. On a narrow screen, switch between Write and Preview.

  3. Export

Download a standalone HTML file, download the Markdown, or copy the HTML to paste elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded?
No. The preview and the export are built in your browser. The draft is not saved anywhere, so download it before you close the tab.
Can pasted HTML run in the preview?
No. Raw HTML in your Markdown, including script tags and event handlers, is shown as plain text instead of being run. Links are limited to http, https, mailto and in-page anchors.
Why is my image not showing?
Only images with an https address are rendered. Anything else, including http addresses and local paths, falls back to its alt text. To show one, your browser fetches it from that address (without telling it which page asked), so a wrong address or a site that refuses the request shows a broken image.
What is in the exported HTML file?
One self-contained .html file with the styles inside it, a light palette, and a security policy that stops scripts from running if you open it. Images stay as links to their https addresses.
Is it free?
Yes. Markdown Studio is free and does not need an account.
