CSV is the plain-text table that import screens, databases and scripts read. Exporting from XLSX keeps the cell values and drops the spreadsheet around them.

  • One nonempty worksheet produces a CSV; multiple nonempty worksheets produce a ZIP with a CSV for each sheet. Empty sheets are skipped.
  • Formula cells use their cached results and are never recalculated; formulas without a cached result become blank cells.
  • CSV output uses comma separators and UTF-8 text with a byte order mark (BOM).
  • Date cells at midnight UTC are written as YYYY-MM-DD; dates with a time are written as ISO timestamps.
  • CSV contains cell values, so worksheet styling and Excel number formats are not carried into the text output.
